The Philadelphia 76ers didn’t get a lot of production from their rookies in 2012-13

The Sixers didn’t get much production out of their rookies in 2012-13, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t down the road.  22-year old forward Arnett Moultrie appears to have a nice upside.  He played in 47 games (0 starts) for the 76ers last year and he averaged 11.5 minutes, 3.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  In his 10 games (0 starts) in which he played at least 20 minutes, Moultrie averaged 24.2 minutes, 9.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  24-year old guard Justin Holiday is Jrue’s brother.  He played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Sixers last year and he averaged 15.8 minutes, 4.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.  He only shot 33% from the floor and 25% from the three point line for the 76ers this year.  21-year old point guard Maalik Wayns started the 2012-13 with the Sixers, but he finished it with the Clippers.  Wayns played in 21 games (1 start) for the Sixers last year and he averaged 7.9 minutes, 2.7 points, 0.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.  He played in 27 games (1 start) overall for the Sixers and Clippers last year and he averaged 7.5 minutes, 2.8 points, 0.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.

Arnett Moultrie is finally getting to play some in April for the Philadelphia 76ers

22-year old rookie power forward Arnett Moultrie is finally getting a chance to show what he can do in April.  Moultrie has played in 8 games (0 starts) so far in April for the 76ers and he is averaging 16.6 minutes, 5.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Moultrie is shooting 20 of 27 (74.1%) from the floor so far this month, as he is red hot right now.  He has now played in 46 games (0 starts) overall this year for the Sixers and he is averaging 11.2 minutes, 3.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  He should get to play a lot in tomorrow night’s 2012-13 season finale.

Arnett Moultrie could be in line for more P.T. for the Philadelphia 76ers

With the 76ers’ season going down the tubes, they might start playing 22-year old rookie forward Arnett Moultrie more.  Moultrie has played in 21 games (0 starts) so far this year for the 76ers and he is averaging 8.4 minutes, 2.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  He is shooting 47.6% from the floor so far this year, but only 50% from the free throw line.  I think his foul shooting would improve with more P.T.  The Sixers might as well give Moultrie a shot to show what he can do in the near future.

Arnett Moultrie has been nailed to the Philadelphia 76ers’ bench so far this year

With Thaddeus Young, Lavoy Allen and Spencer Hawes ahead of 22-year old rookie power forward Arnett Moultrie on the depth chart, it’s no wonder that he hasn’t played much so far this year.  Moultrie has played in 12 games (0 starts) for the 76ers so far this year and he is averaging 5.6 minutes, 1.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  Only and injury or a trade could open up P.T. for Moultrie, so he needs to bide his time and watch and learn this year.

The rookies are hoisting up bricks for the Philadelphia 76ers so far this year

22-year old forward Arnett Moultrie and 21-year old point guard Maalik Wayns have both been stinking it up in the rare times they are on the court so far in 2012-13.  Moultrie has played in 11 games (0 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 5.5 minutes, 1.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  He is only shooting 30.8% from the floor and 54.5% from the free throw line so far this year.  Wayns has played in 18 games (1 start) for the 76ers so far this year and he is averaging 8.0 minutes, 2.4 points, 0.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  He is only shooting 23% from the floor and 20.8% from three point range so far this year and that is pathetic.  Barring injuries in front of them on the depth chart, I don’t see Moultrie or Wayns seeing a bump in P.T. any time soon.

Not much P.T. available for rookies so far this year for the Philadelphia 76ers

22-year old forward Arnett Moultrie and 21-year old point guard Maalik Wayns are both likely to be sitting near the end of the bench this year.  The 76ers have high hopes for Moultrie.  He has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the 76ers so far this year and he is averaging 5.2 minutes, 0.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.  Wayns has played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 4.9 minutes, 1.3 points and 0.4 assists per game.

The Philadelphia 76ers got good work from their rookies

The Philadelphia 76ers got solid work out of their rookie class in 2011-12.  23-year old PF/C Lavoy Allen was quite a find for the Sixers in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft.  Allen played in 41 games (15 starts) for the Sixers last year and he averaged 15.2 minutes, 4.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  He has a nice upside.  21-year old C Nikola Vucevic also had a decent rookie season.  Vucevic played in 51 games (15 starts) for the Sixers last year and he averaged 15.9 minutes, 5.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  He will be a starter in the near future for the 76ers.  24-year old shooting guard Xavier Silas joined the Sixers late in the season.  He only played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Sixers and he averaged 19.5 minutes, 5.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game on a paltry 26.7% shooting from the floor.

21-year old center Sasha Vucevic and 23-year old PF/C Lavoy Allen have played pretty well when called upon by the Sixers this year.  Vucevic has played in 39 games (8 starts) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 16.6 minutes, 5.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  He could be a starter for the Sixers in the near future.  Lavoy Allen has played in 32 games (13 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 15.2 minutes, 4.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  Allen could also be a starter down the road for the Sixers.

The Philadelphia 76ers are still getting solid production out of their rookies

21-year old center Nikola Vucevic and 23-year old F/C Lavoy Allen have both played well so far this year.  They are sharing P.T. at center until Spencer Hawes returns to action.  Vucevic has played in 27 games (5 starts) for the 76ers so far this year and he is averaging 17.1 minutes, 6.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  He has shot 52.9% from the floor so far this year which is pretty impressive for a rookie.  Lavoy Allen has played in 23 games (11 starts) for the 76ers so far this year and he is averaging 17.6 minutes, 5.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  It’s looking like the Sixers had one of the better drafts last June as Vucevic and Allen have been really solid players so far this year.

21-year old center Nikola Vucevic and 22-year old forward Lavoy Allen are having solid rookie years for the 76ers.  Vucevic has played in 17 games (4 starts) so far this year for the 76ers and he is averaging 15.5 minutes, 5.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.  He is shooting an impressive 50.6% from the floor so far this year.  He has the look of a starter down the road for the Sixers.  Lavoy Allen has played in 13 games (2 starts) for the Sixers so far this year and he is averaging 16.3 minutes, 5.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  He is also shooting well, as he is hitting 51.6% of his shots from the floor so far this year.  The Sixers did an outstanding job in last June’s NBA Draft in securing Vucevic and Allen.
