The Phillies have placed pitchers Jon Lieber, Freddy Garcia and catcher Ryan Buddie on the 15-day DL.  Garcia has a case of right biceps tendinitis.  He will likely rejoin the Phillies rotation on 17th or 18th.  Jon Lieber has a strained right oblique muscle which comes at a bad time for him as he could have subbed for Garcia.  He will pitch out of the bullpen when he returns unless the Phillies’ have a starting pitcher go down to injury.  Ryan Buddie has a strained oblique muscle.  Buddie has at least three catchers ahead of him on the Phillies depth chart, so he will likely be returned to the Los Angeles Angels at some point as he was selected off ot their roster in the Rule 5 Draft last winter.
