The Philadelphia Phillies sign relief pitcher Rick Bauer to a minor league contract
30 year old righty reliever Rick Bauer had an awful Spring Training for the Texas Rangers and it got him cut. The Phillies will start Bauer out in the minors and bring him up to big league club if he pitches well. He was 3-1 with 7 holds, 2 saves, a 3.55 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 58 games (1 start) for the Texas Rangers last season. Over his six year career, Bauer has complied a 11-14 record with 22 holds, 3 saves, a 4.34 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 183 games (10 starts). If Bauer straightens out he will really help the Phillies who are hurting in the bullpen.
