Lefty reliever Matt Smith has had Tommy John surgery and he will miss the remainder of the season.  Smith was in the minors as he had been really awful this season for the Phillies.  Smith pitched in 9 games this season for the Phillies and he was 0-0 with a 11.25 ERA and a 3.75 WHIP!  In 4 innings for the Phillies, Smith allowed 4 hits, walked 11 batters and whiffed only 1.
