The Phillies won this game because of a big 8th inning in which they scored 4 runs due to homers by Shane Victorino and Matt Stairs and the bullpen made it stand up. Chase Utley had a solid game as he was 3 for 5 with a double and a RBI. Shane Victorino was outstanding again last night as he was 1 for 3 with a run scored, homer and 2 RBIs. Carlos Ruiz also had a solid game going 2 for 3 with a run scored. Joe Blanton started the game and he worked 5 innings allowing 7 hits, 3 earned runs, walking 4 batters and whiffing 4. Ryan Madson was the winning pitcher for the Phillies in this game as he worked 1.2 scoreless innings. J.C. Romero pitched 2/3 of a inning without giving up a run earning a hold in this game. Brad Lidge worked the final 1.1 innings in this game allowing 1 hit, whiffing 2 and earning the save. The Phillies are now up 3-1 in this series.
