The Philadelphia Phillies sign Jason Ellison
The Phillies have signed 30-year old righty swinging outfielder Jason Ellison to a minor league contract. He played in 9 games for the Rangers last season and he was 3 for 13 (.231 avg, .517 OPS) with 5 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Ellison has now played in 344 games in his major league career and he is 139 for 554 (.251 avg, .650 OPS) with 89 runs scored, 8 homers, 35 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. This was a good little signing for the Phillies as Ellison is a good base runner and defender in the outfield. He will have a chance to stick as the Phillies’ #5 outfielder this spring.
