The Philadelphia Phillies sign Miguel Cairo
The Phillies have signed 34-year old righty swinging infielder Miguel Cairo to a minor league deal. Cairo played in 108 games for the Mariners last season and he was 55 for 221 (.249 avg, .646 OPS) with 34 runs scored, 23 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. He has now played in 1,200 games in his major league career in which he is 881 for 3,316 (.266 avg, .672 OPS) with 426 runs scored, 27 homers, 318 RBIs and 128 stolen bases. Cairo will have a hard time making the opening day roster for the Phillies but he is a quality bench player.
