The Phillies thought they were getting a solid starting pitcher when they signed him two seasons ago as a free agent. But, earlier today they decided to cut their losses and let him walk away. The 31-year old righty pitched in 21 games (19 starts) for the Phillies last season and he was 4-8 with a 5.80 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP. He pitched in 51 games (49 starts) in his two seasons with the Phillies and he was 14-18 with a 6.10 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. The Phillies won’t miss Eaton even if he pitches well for someone else in 2009.
