The Phillies have decided to go with lefty J.A. Happ instead of Pedro Martinez in this game. Happ pitched in 35 games (23 starts) for the Phillies this season and he was 12-4 with a 2.93 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. He has been kryptonite to Rockies’ hitters this season. He has pitched in 2 games (1 start) against them and he is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a 0.62 WHIP. He has only allowed 5 hits to the Rockies in 11 innings while whiffing 11 batters and walking only 2. Rockies’ hitters have a .139 batting average against Happ this season. It appears that the Rockies will have their work cut out for them today.
