Game #1: Philadelphia Phillies 6, New York Yankees 1
It was the Cliff Lee and Chase Utley show in the Bronx last night as they powered the Phillies to a rather impressive victory in game #1 of the World Series. Cliff Lee had the Yankees looking like they were swinging with toothpicks instead of baseball bats. He pitched a complete game allowing 6 hits, 1 earned run and he whiffed 10 batters while walking none. If not for a Jimmy Rollins error late in the game he would have pitched a shutout. Chase Utley just beat on C.C. Sabathia as he cranked 2 solo homers off of him giving Cliff Lee all of he support he needed on this night. Ryan Howard also had a solid night as he was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Jayson Werth pitched in as he was 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Jimmy Rollins was 1 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. The Phillies have established momentum in this series and they will look to keep the train rolling with Pedro Martinez getting the start. The Phillies are now up 1-0 in the World Series.
