Cole Hamels just didn’t have it last night and it doomed the Phillies. Hamels was the losing pitcher for the Phillies as he worked the first 4 1/3 innings allowing 5 hits and 5 earned runs. J.A. Happ, Chad Durbin and Brett Myers worked 3 2/3 innings behind Hamels and they have up a combined 3 earned runs (one apiece). Ryan Madson was the only pitcher not to give up a run last night working a scoreless 9th inning. Jayson Werth was a one man wrecking crew in this game for the Phillies as he was 2 for 4 with 2 solo homers. Carlos Ruiz also had another great game as he was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Jimmy Rollins, Pedro Feliz and Cole Hamels were the rest of the offense for the Phillies in this game with one hit apiece. The Phillies are now down 2 games to 1 to the Yankees in this series.
