Game #5: Philadelphia Phillies 8, New York Yankees 6
The Phillies jumped on the Yankees early in this game and they made it stand up. Chase Utley had a monster game as he was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored, 2 homers, 4 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Raul Ibanez also had a big game for the Phillies as he was 2 for 4 with 1 run scored, a homer and 2 RBIs. Jimmy Rollins was a solid table setter for the offense in this game as he was 2 for 4 with 1 run scored. Cliff Lee didn’t have his best stuff today but he still was good enough to be the winning pitcher working the first 7 innings allowing 5 earned runs. He was also 1 for 3 (single) at the plate. Chan Ho Park worked a scoreless 8th inning for the Phillies. Manager Charlie Manuel then called on Ryan Madson to close out this game. He worked 1 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run but he still got the save. The Yankees are now up 3 games to 2 as the series heads back to the Bronx on Wednesday.
You are right about Cliff Lee, he did not have his best stuff, but he proved he is a gamer and does what it takes to win. Chan Ho Park has been a pleasant surprise for the Phillies bullpen this postseason and they will need there bullpen to be on top of their game if they want to win in New York.
