The Philadelphia Phillies let Eric Bruntlett and Tyler Walker leave
31-year old righty swinging infielder Eric Bruntlett and 33-year old righty reliever Tyler Walker have refused minor league assignments by the Phillies thus becoming free agents. Bruntlett played in 72 games for the Phillies last season and he was 18 for 105 (.171 avg, .462 OPS) with 15 runs scored and 7 RBIs. In two years with the Phillies, Bruntlett played in 192 games in which he was 64 for 317 (.202 avg, .550 OPS) with 52 runs scored, 2 homers, 22 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. The Phillies will have little problem bringing in a utility infielder who is better than Bruntlett for the 2010 season. Tyler Walker pitched pretty well for the Phillies last season working in 32 games (0 starts) in which he was 2-1 with a 3.06 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. The Phillies didn’t use Walker in too many high stress situations showing that they didn’t exactly trust him.
