The Phillies have signed 34-year old righty swinging Placido Polanco to a 3-year, $18 million dollar deal with a mutual option for a fourth year. Polanco played in 153 games for the Tigers last season and he was 176 for 618 (.285 avg, .727 OPS) with 82 runs scored, 10 homers, 72 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Polanco has now played 12 years in the majors in which he is 1,671 for 5,511 (.303 avg, .761 OPS) with 826 runs scored, 90 homers, 579 RBIs and 71 stolen bases. This is a nice little upgrade for the Phillies as Polanco should be able to defend as well as Feliz while giving the team a hitter with a higher upside, especially from a contact and average point of view.
