The Phillies have signed 34-year old righty starting pitcher Brandon Duckworth to a minor league deal. He pitched in 20 games (19 starts) in AAA-ball last season and he was 3-6 with a 5.31 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. Duckworth last pitched in the majors during the 2008 season with the Royals. He has now pitched in 134 games (84 starts) in his major league career and he is 23-24 with 1 save, a 5.28 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP. Duckworth began his major league career in 2001-03 with the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched in 65 games (58 starts) in his career with the Phillies and he was 15-18 with a 4.87 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Duckworth will report to minor league camp instead of spring training so he will have to work very hard to make it to Philly at some point in 2010.
