Game #3: San Francisco Giants 3, Philadelphia Phillies 0

The Phillies could only muster 3 hits yesterday against Matt Cain, Javier Lopez and Brian Wilson and that just wasn’t near enough to win the game. Ryan Howard (1 for 4), Jimmy Rollins (1 for 4) and Carlos Ruiz (1 for 2) were the extent of the Phillies’ offense yesterday. Cole Hamels was solid working the first six innings yesterday allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs while walking 1 batter and whiffing 8. He was the losing pitcher. Jose Contreras did a good job of keeping the game close as he worked 2 shutout innings to close the game for the Phillies. The Phillies are down 2-1 in this series with Game #4 tonight.
