Game #4: San Francisco Giants 6, Philadelphia Phillies 5

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, The Playoffs by chinmusic on Thursday 21 October 2010 at 12:21 pm

The Giants were just too much for the Phillies last night. The Phillies didn’t get much out of starting pitcher Joe Blanton last night as he worked the first 4 2/3 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs. Jose Contreras then came in and got Blanton out of trouble by whiffing the only batter he faced. Chad Durbin brought in his gas can allowing 2 hits, 2 earned runs and he walked 2 batters in only 1 inning of work. Antonio Bastardo pitched 1/3 of a scoreless inning and Ryan Madson followed him by pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings keeping the Giants & Phillies all tied up. Roy Oswalt came in at the start of the 9th inning and he was the losing pitcher. He pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run. Placido Polanco led the way with the bats for the Phillies in this game as he was 2 for 3 with 1 run scored, 1 double and 2 RBIs. Shane Victorino (1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI) and Jayson Werth (1 for 3 with a double and a RBI) also pitched in offensively for the Phillies last night. The Phillies are now down 3-1 in this series with Game #5 tonight in San Francisco.
