38-year old lefty swinging Raul Ibanez will be the starting LF once again for the Phillies in 2011. Ibanez played in 155 games for the Phillies last season and he was 154 of 561 (.275 avg, .793 OPS) with 75 runs scored, 16 homers, 83 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Ibanez has averaged 84 runs scored, 25 homers, 88 RBIs and 4 stolen bases in his two years with the Phillies, and they would be happy with those kinds of numbers in 2011. Ibanez had 2 errors in 145 games in LF last season while showing awful range. He also had 4 assists while playing in LF in 2010. Ibanez needs to hit well in 2011 for the Phillies to help make up for his stinky defense in LF.

29-year old righty swinging Ben Francisco will be needed in RF when the 2011 season starts, but he will also likely get some P.T. in LF this year. He played in 23 error-free games in LF last season with 3 assists while showing off good range. Look for Francisco to replace Ibanez for defensive reasons a lot after Domonic Brown gets back in action.

31-year old lefty swinging Cory Sullivan played in 57 games for the Astros last season and he was 12 of 64 (.188 avg, .492 OPS) with 6 runs scored and 4 RBIs. He is a career .271 hitter with a .708 OPS in his first six years in the majors, so look for his bat to rebound in 2011. He didn’t make any errors in 13 games in LF while showing good range.

Ross Gload, Brandon Moss, John Mayberry and Delwyn Young could each get a little P.T. in LF for the Phillies in 2011 if they are needed there.
