The Philadelphia Phillies sign Ronnie Belliard
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed 35-year old righty swinging 2B Ronnie Belliard to a minor league deal. Belliard played in 82 games for the Dodgers last year and he was 35 of 162 (.216 avg, .622 OPS) with 24 runs scored, 2 homers, 19 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He has now played in 1,484 games in his first 13 years in the majors and he is 1,377 of 5,045 (.273 avg, .753 OPS) with 685 runs scored, 114 homers, 601 RBIs and 43 stolen bases. If Belliard gets off to a hot start in the minors, I fully expect the Phillies to call him up.
