The Philadelphia Phillies were running up to the plate to bat yesterday against the Cardinals! Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez cranked homers in the sixth inning off of Kyle Lohse and that got the Phillies rolling. Howard finished this game 1 for 3 with 1 run scored, a walk, a homer and 4 RBIs. Raul Ibanez was also red hot at the plate as he was 2 for 4 with 1 run scored, a homer and 3 RBIs. Chase Utley (3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored), Jimmy Rollins (2 for 4 with a walk and 3 runs scored), Hunter Pence (2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs) and Shane Victorino (3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs) also had good games for the Phillies. Roy Halladay gave up a 3-run bomb to Lance Berkman in the first inning. He beared down after that and gave the Phillies a chance to come back, which they did. Halladay worked the first 8 innings of this game and he gave up 3 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 1 batter and whiffed 8 to earn the win. He was also 1 for 4 at the plate. Rookie Michael Stutes had a rough time as he worked 1/3 of an inning, allowing 3 hits, 1 walk and 3 earned runs. Ryan Madson finished up this game by working 2/3 of an inning, allowing 1 hit and whiffing 2 batters. The Phillies are now up 1-0 in this series with Game #2 today.
