The Philadelphia Phillies release Dontrelle Willis
The Phillies have released 30-year old lefty Dontrelle Willis. Willis was horrible this spring for the Phillies. This could be the end of the line for Willis in the majors. He pitched in 162 games (all starts) in his first years in the majors (all with the Marlins) and he was 68-54 with a 3.78 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. After his trade to the Tigers (along with Miguel Cabrera), Willis seemed to lose it. In his last four years in the majors, Willis has worked in 43 games (40 starts) in which he is 4-15 with a 6.15 ERA and a 1.81 WHIP. This is no loss for the Phillies.
