The Phillies have signed 37-year old righty starter/reliever Rodrigo Lopez to a minor league deal. Lopez pitched in 4 games (0 starts) for the Cubs last year and he was 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA and a 2.05 WHIP. Lopez also pitched in 18 games (15 starts) in AAA-ball for the Cubs last year in which he was 2-5 with a 5.28 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Lopez has now pitched in 257 games (215 starts) in his first 11 years in the majors and he is 81-89 with a 4.82 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. Lopez will likely get a shot to win a long relief job with the Phillies next spring.
