23-year old lefty starting pitcher Alex Morgan came into this season as the Phillies’ #5 prospect according to Baseball America and he’s getting a lot closer to making his major league debut in 2013.  He has started 5 games in AAA-ball so far this year and he is 1-2 with a 3.23 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP.  Morgan only have given up 24 hits and 9 walks while whiffing 20 batters in his first 30 2/3 innings in AAA-ball this year, which is impressive.  Morgan has now pitched in 43 games (42 starts) in his first three years in the minors and he is 12-16 with a 3.04 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.  If Morgan keeps pitching well in AAA, he will likely get a shot with the Phillies at some point in 2013.
