24-year old switch-hitting catcher Andrew Knapp is a player on the rise in the Philadelphia Phillies‘ minor league system. He comes into this season as the Phillies’ #4 prospect according to Baseball America. He played in 118 games in A+AA-ball last year for the Phillies and he was 141 of 458 (.308 avg, .876 OPS) with 77 runs scored, 13 homers, 84 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Knapp has now played in 278 games in his first 3 years in the minors and he is 291 of 1,041 (.280 avg, .790 OPS) with 153 runs scored, 23 homers, 139 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Knapp will have to keep playing well because the Phillies’ #5 prospect is also a catcher (Jorge Alfaro).
